You don't get paid. The sponsors keep the web going. I am on one where your can contact a doctor and get an answer to any difficulties you are experiencing at that moment that scares you. But if you want to do it alone I understand. It is just that The Arthritis Society needs someone to help with the site. I have been trying to get hold of them for two days to fix the site. I have been calling and writing to their media relations expert for a couple of years and they did make many changes. They may not need ads, but their name will draw people in. I am on BenzoBuddies and they have about 3500 members and lots of volunteers to help with questions the normal member can not solve or has not answered. No ads either. There is already a Health forum that is huge called patients Like Me that links you anonymously to others who have the same conditions you may have. You might look at it to see how they run it. There is also a giant site called PsycCentral you might like to look over. You can look at these as a guest. These two online health boards are completely different in the way they are run so you can get some good ideas on how other forums do it. These three are quite unique from each other.
